Jameel A. Mayers
Hi, I’m Jameel—a husband, father, author, podcaster, and proud overthinker. I’m the host of Fathernetics, a podcast for fathers, by fathers, that dives deep into the real stuff—no dad clichés, just the wild, hilarious, heart-wrenching, and beautiful truth of fatherhood. Whether you’re a bio dad, adoptive dad (like me), two-dad household, or somewhere in the beautiful mess between—you’re welcome here.
I write books too. My latest, Elysium, is a genre-bending story that somehow wrangles sci-fi, emotion, and soul-searching into one cohesive ride. I also penned Paper Cradles, a deeply personal story about our adoption journey (not yet released)—because the truth is, parenting isn’t just about diapers and lunchboxes. It’s legacy. It’s identity. And sometimes… it’s crying in the car while trying to remember if you packed the field trip form.
Born in Panama, now planted in Arizona with my husband of 22 years, our incredible boy, and more sports gear than any closet can contain, I live for storytelling that sticks and conversations that matter. You can find me on Instagram @fathernetics, where I overshare just the right amount and occasionally pretend I know how to make reels.
I’m here to inspire, connect, and remind you (and myself) that none of us have this figured out—and that’s what makes it amazing.

Elysium
In a world fractured by grief, memory, and mystery, Elysium follows Eli—a young man reeling from a past he barely understands and a future that won’t wait. Pulled between fragmented moments of trauma and unexpected tenderness, Eli searches for belonging, truth, and redemption. Set against the surreal backdrop of an otherworldly facility where pain is processed like data, his journey reveals the weight of identity, the cost of forgetting, and the hope buried in the ruins of memory.
As Eli confronts the people who’ve shaped him—his father, his guardians, and the enigmatic Adam—he is forced to answer one impossible question: What if paradise was never meant for you?
Raw, lyrical, and deeply human, Elysium is a genre-blurring novel that dares to explore what remains after the world ends—and what it means to rebuild from the ashes.
Fathernetics: For fathers. By fathers. With flavor.
Let’s be real: where’s the space for dads to talk real-life joy, chaos, love, and legacy—without the toxic baggage? Welcome to Fathernetics, a podcast born from 22 years of partnership, 8 years of fatherhood, and a lifetime of “Wait, why don’t we talk about this more?”
Created by Jameel Mayers, a Black-Latino dad with a white husband, an amazing son, and one unforgettable voice, Fathernetics explores fatherhood through every lens—gay, straight, bio, adoptive, and chosen. Because being a dad isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s complex. It’s raw. And yes, sometimes it’s giving
“snack duty meltdown meets existential crisis.”
Our goal?
To carve out space for real fatherhood stories, amplify diverse voices, and create community where every dad feels seen—whether he’s packing D (dad-energy), lunches, coming out, breaking cycles, or just trying to keep his houseplants and his kids alive.
It’s not therapy.
It’s not a lecture.
It’s a movement.
It’s a community.
